Gianluca Chetcuti wins Cassar Cup

Gianluca Chetcuti, the young shooter who just switched from Double Trap to Trap, was the overall winner of the Cassar Cup. This prestigiou­s trophy has been organized by The Malta Shooting Federation for the last century.

The event was over 50 clays trap, with the top six shooters to qualify for the final stages to determine the podium places.

Gianluca Chetcuti placed 1st with 20-24-27-31-40+shoot off +3

Nazzareno Attard ended 2nd with 19-23-28-33-40+shoot off +2

George Mifsud was 3rd with 18-2226-30.

Chris Vella placed 4th with 18-2326. Fifth was Nicky Carabott with 1821 and Eugenio Borg finished 6th with 18.

Mikael Galea 10th at the Korea World Cup

Maltese female trap shooter Mikaela Galea finished in joint 10th place in Ladies Junior Trap event at The ISSF World Championsh­ips 2018 Changwon, Korea.

Shooting in extreme rainy conditions, Mikaela managed 21/25, 20/25 and a perfect straight of 25/25 the day before. In yesterday’s qualificat­ion rounds, she hit 24/25 and 20/25 for a total of 112/125.

Mikaela was assisted by her coach Dr. James Galea.

William Chetcuti, Brian Galea and Mario Buhagiar competed in the Trap event where Chetcuti had scores of 21-25-23-23-24 for a total of 116/125. He was assisted by his coach Jimmy Bugeja.

Brian Galea finished with scores of 22-18-24-23-25 for a total of 112/125.He was assisted by his coach Frans Bugeja.

Mario Buhagiar managed a score of 22-22-19-25-22 for a total of 110/125. He was assisted by his coach Dr. James Galea.
