Rennie Deguara wins Carmel Grech mini Trap GP

Rennie Deguara won the Carmel Grech Trap Mini Grand Prix at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club, an event that was organised on three qualificat­ion rounds of 25 clay targets each plus Finals.

Nicky Carabott placed in second place while George Mifsud finished in third place overall.

The six finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualificat­ion scores were:

Veteran George Cassar finished with the highest qualificat­ion score of 65/75, Rennie Deguara hit 63/75+2, promising junior athlete Nico Sciberras scored 63/75+1, George Mifsud shot 62/75, Gianluca Chetcuti managed 61/75 while Nicky Carabott made the finals with the score of 59/75+4 after a three-way shootoff with Stephen Vella and Matthew Busuttil.

This weekend’s official overall results were;

1st Rennie Deguara 19/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 9/10, total score 37/50

2nd Nicky Carabott 20/25 + 5/5 + 1/5 + 2/5 + 7/10, total score 35/50

3rd George Mifsud 17/25 + 5/5 + 2/5 + 2/5, total score 26/40

4th Nico Sciberras 17/25 + 2/5 + 3/5, total score 22/35

5th George Cassar 15/25 + 2/5, total score 17/30

6th Gianluca Chetcuti 15/25, total score 15/25

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their three qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores; Class A

1st George Mifsud 62/75

2nd Gianluca Chetcuti 61/75 3rd Nicky Carabott 59/75 Class B

1st George Cassar 65/75 2nd Rennie Deguara 63/75 3rd Matthew Busuttil 59/75 Class C

The MSSF Trap Programme continues next Sunday at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges with the Sirap Trophy.

Liam Sciberras wins his first Skeet trophy

Junior Skeet shooter Liam Sciberras made it to the top podium position at The MSSF shooting range at Bidnija for the first time in his career to win The F&C Trophy.

Liam just started skeet shooting a year ago, but he took his sport seriously under the supervisio­n of his coach, Dr. James Galea.

This event was over 50 clays skeet, with the top six to qualify for the final stages.

Liam Sciberras placed 1st with 15-23-32-41-51.

Bozidar Dimitrov was 2nd with 16-23-32-41-49 and Edwin Zammit placed 3rd with 17-24-30-37.

David Gatt finished 4th with 1522-26, Jason Agius 5th with 15-21 and Jason Sciberras 6th with 14. Class A

1st Jason Sciberras 44/50. 2nd Bozidar Dimitrov 44/50 Class B

1st Edwin Zammit 43/50 2nd Liam Sciberras 41/50.
