Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana yesterday launched the official ‘Christmas in Gozo’ programme.

Starting on 1 December, the five-week programme aims to attract more visitors to Malta’s sister island through a variety of seasonal activities.

During a press conference, Minister Caruana said that Gozo had had a year packed with events and concerts to suit everybody’s taste. Month after month, she said, the beauty and talent on the island had been promoted.

The programme over the Christmas period will vary between art, theatre, music and craft. Concerts, exhibitions and processions will also be held throughout the month of December.

The minister said that those visiting Gozo over the holidays would be delighted to note a different activity each day. She stressed that Christmas events would be held not only in Victoria, but in other localities to promote the island’s potential and beauty.

2018 also marks the 10th edition of Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem, a live nativity scene that has become one of the main attractions in Gozo at this time of the year; so much so that it has attracted international attention as a Top 10 Worldwide Destination at Christmas.

Apart from the numerous Christmas markets and crib exhibitions, the Ministry for Gozo also presented the programme for Gozo on New Year’s Eve. To be held both in Independence Square and St George’s Square, Rabat, the night will see local and international talent on one stage. Jonas Blue, known for hits such as ‘Mama’ and ‘Rise’ will be the international guest for the night, alongside local band The Travellers and Gianni & the Crosswalk Gang.
