Qormi Daikin and Sliema Hotsticks canter into Challenge Cup Final

-

Sunday’s Challenge Cup semifinals ended up as one-sided affairs and resulted in Qormi Daikin and Sliema Hs booking their place in the final of this Competition being played on the 2nd December at 11:00am.

Qormi and Floriana Young Stars had already met in the Super Cup Final and Qormi had emerged winners by four goals to two.

On that day Qormi had taken a four-goal lead with Floriana giving an improved performance in the second half for the final 4-2 score-line.

This time round Qormi did not let off and the 5-0 final score left no room for debate. With the goals coming from Kyle Micallef, who got a double, Steve Portelli, Steve Tanti and Juan Sarcia.

The score was 2-0 at half time with goals from Kyle Micallef and Steve Portelli. The second half saw another strike from Kyle Micallef and one each from Steve Tanti and Juan Sarcia. Glen Bonello and Robert Aquilina umpired the game.

The early minutes of the second semi-final between Sliema Hs and White Hart gave no indication of what the outcome would be. An early Sliema goal from Julian Zahra was quickly cancelled out by an excellent strike from Luca Runza; ironically a player on loan from Sliema.

Unfortunately, for White Hart, that was about it and by halftime Sliema had upped the tempo and taken a 4-1 lead with further goals from Christ Agius (2) and Silas Plaehn.

The second half did not have much of a story as Christ Agius got two more goals, Julian Zahra got his second and Lukas Plaehn and Ryan Dalli got one each for a final score of 9-1. Umpires of the match were Nathan Galea and Paul Brincat.
