First National Sport School training camp in Italy launched
The first waterpolo training camp for students attending the school in conjunction with the ASA of Malta and SportMalta was officially launched yesterday.
National waterpolo head coach Karl Izzo will be coordinating the training camp which will be held in Ostia, Italy, between tomorrow and Saturday, 1st December.
Addressing a news conference yesterday, ASA president Joe Caruana Curran said: “This is a unique opportunity for our young future waterpolo players. This is an opportunity to cherish and to look forward to. We, as ASA, have always promoted these kind of training camps.”
Another speaker was Karl Izzo who carefully explained what the training camp will consist of and the benefits of such a unique event for these young aspiring students.
Izzo also confirmed the presence of Malta national team waterpolo player Jordan Camilleri, who plays with AS Roma Nuoto. “Jordan himself is a national waterpolo player who recently graduated as a doctor. He will be joining us to talk things in general during this training camp,” said Izzo.
Two NSS teachers, Niki Lanzon, familiar in waterpolo circles and Ms. Graziella Galea, Head of Department Physical Education, together with an ASA Physiotherapist, will also be accompanying the team in Ostia.
The conference was also addressed by Robert Magro, Head of National Sport School. Kevin Azzopardi and Mark Cutajar, CEO Sports Malta.
