Valletta stage comeback to beat Luxol in clash of titans

Last Thursday’s big match between Luxol and Valletta offered once again a thrilling encounter in front of a large audience at the Corradino Sport Pavillion.

Luxol started firecely as in the first four minutes they were leading 3-0 through a brace by Brazilian Maicon Silva Gaiewski and George Frendo’s goal.

Valletta didn’t throw in the towel and quickly reduced the gap through their captain Melvin Borg. In the final four minutes of the first half Melvin Borg scored once again and Dylan Musu levelled matters.

During the second half both teams had a player sent off. First it was Valletta’s goalkeeper Stefan Vella who took the ball outside the penalty area and then Luxol’s George Frendo received the second yellow card for a hands ball.

After an intitiativ­e by Colombian Camilo Andres Gomez Vanegas, it was time again for Valletta’s captain Melvin Borg to mark his hattrick, scoring the winning goal and sealing the end result of 4-3.

Luxol were twice denied by the post with the last one in the final second of the match.
