Gudja United moved to second place in the standings beating Vittoriosa with a fine display yesterday. Playing after Santa Lucia’s debacle in the first game, Gudja were ultra motivated yesterday and obtained their goal, moving ahead of Santa Lucia in the standings.

Gudja were the better team in the opening stages and took the lead on 13 minutes when Santos Da Hora scored from close range following a amelee in front of goal. Gudja doubled the score on 33

minutes with a rapid break with Kooh Sohna passing towards Lee Joe Schembri who rounded off the goalkeeper before putting the ball at the back of the net.

Just before the break Vittoriosa pulled one back when they were awarded a dubious penalty for a handling infringement, and Ogunnupe sent Debono the wrong way from the penalty spot.

In the second half Gudja continued to dictate adding further goals to their tally to move to second spot in the standings.
