Mario Buhagiar wins Horace Micallef trap trophy

Mario Buhagiar was the overall winner of the Horace Micallef Trap Trophy, an event that was organised at the Southern Shooting club and that included two qualificat­ion rounds of 25 clay targets each followed by the final stages.

Buhagiar was joined on the podium by Stephen Vella, who on the other hand had to settle for second place after he lost a shoot-off following the final stages. John Marmara finished this competitio­n in the third place.

A perfect straight of 25/25 hit targets was registered by Stephen Vella.

The six finalists in the bib number order according to their qualificat­ion scores were:

Stephen Vella with the score of 47/50, Angelo Ciappara 44/50, Mario Buhagiar 41/50+3, Christophe­r Farrugia 41/50+2, John Marmara 40/50 and Michael Grech 39/50.

The finals results were;

1st Mario Buhagiar 19/25 + 3/5 + 5/5 + 2/5 + 9/10, total score 38/50+3

2nd Stephen Vella 18/25 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 7/10, total score 38/50+2

3rd John Marmara 17/25 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 4/5, total score 29/40

4th Michael Grech 16/25 + 4/5 + 1/5, total score 21/35

5th Christophe­r Farrugia 15/25 + 3/5, total score 18/30

6th Angelo Ciappara 14/25, total score 14/25

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their qualificat­ions with the following scores:

1st Mario Buhagiar 41/50 2nd John Marmara 40/50

1st Stephen Vella 47/50

2nd Angelo Ciappara 44/50

3rd Christophe­r Farrugia 41/50

1st Charlie Demanuele 37/50

2nd Joe Camilleri 32/50

3rd Paul Gatt 31/50
