Excellent season for Valletta Subbuteo Club

The Malta Table Football Sports Associatio­n, last Thursday organised the AGM and the presentati­on ceremony for the season 2018/19. The event was held at the premises of the Valletta local council.

Valletta Subbuteo Club apart from the various success obtained abroad, dominated the local scene. As a team event, Valletta SC won the club’s league for the 15th time and also the club’s knockout.

As for individual awards the club players were awarded as follows;

Mario Camilleri was awarded after his recent success in Belgium when he was crowned as European Champion of the Veteran Category. Samuel Bartolo won the Premier Division thus becoming Malta Champion for the 6th time, and Mario Camilleri was runner-up. The First Division was won by our Youth player Jurgen Balzan, who is also still ranked first in the World Rankings of Table Football, Andrew Abela placed 3rd in the First Division. Samuel Bartolo also won the knockout, while Mario Camilleri was placed 3rd.

Before the presentati­on the last match of the season was played. The Challenge Cup was played between Samuel Bartolo and John Zammit. Again, our player won this match with the score of 2-1.

Valletta Subbuteo Club had an excellent season and our 3 foreign players ended the season with success. Our Belgian player Pascal Scheen recently won the Veteran Category in the Internatio­nal Open tournament which was held in Messina. Our French player Axel Donval became French Champion and our English player Christian Short was finalist in the English Masters

On the same day there was the election, to elect the new MTFSA committee for the coming three years. Our president Felix Rizzo will form part of this committee as a member.

For this presentati­on apart from our players, the president Felix Rizzo, the club’s secretary Monalita Balzan and the club’s honorary president the vice Mayor of Valletta Mr Ray Azzopardi were also present. Valletta Subbuteo Club is always bringing honours to our beloved city Valletta and our new appointmen­t will be in Caen France, in October when the team will be participat­ing in the Champions League.
