Delia says bank threat claims ‘malicious, personal attack on eve of confidence vote’

-

The Nationalist Party said Thursday that a report by a blogger that the banks had threatened to take possession of the house belonging to leader Adrian Delia was a personal attack on the eve of an important vote in the general council.

It is also a huge lie, the PN said, that Adrian Delia did not pay his dues as he had done so within established timeframes.

The party was referring to a blog-post by Manuel Delia, who the party said has been for months attacking Adrian Delia’s credibility after he was democratically elected as leader.

“This is yet another in a series of attacks” on Adrian Delia by Manuel Delia, the party said.

Adrian Delia will be facing a vote of confidence in an extraordinary general council convened for Saturday.

On Thursday morning, Delia’s estranged wife Nickie Vella de Fremeaux filed a judicial protest drawing his attention to outstanding bank payments.

The judicial protest states that their house is mortgaged as guarantee for five bank loans with HSBC.

It says that Vella de Fremeaux had received five letters, addressed to both her and Delia, regarding missed repayments on these loans for the months of May and June, amounting to €7,641. The bank said it was imposing additional interest payments until the balance was paid.

“The bank informed both parties that if the payment isn’t affected by 20 July 2019, the bank has the right and power to suspend all facilities the parties had with the bank,” the judicial protest reads.

In its statement, the party explained that the PN leader did not personally receive an advice for payment and when he did get hold of it had paid €7,500 on 17 July (when the deadline was 20 July) and another payment of €800 was made on 16 July.
