Brian Galea claims the Qormi Clay shooting club Grand Prix

Brian Galea was the overall winner of the Qormi Clay Shooting Club Grand Prix, an event that was organised on five qualificat­ion rounds of twenty five clay targets each with seventy five targets being shot at on Saturday and the last fifty targets plus Final Stages on Sunday.

Galea was joined on the podium by William Chetcuti and by James Galea who finished in the second and in the third place respective­ly.

The six Finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualificat­ion scores were;

William Chetcuti with the score of 117/125 (ISSF MQS), Junior Athlete, Mikaela Galea achieved a satisfacto­ry result of 115/125 (ISSF MQS),

Brian Galea hit 114/125 (ISSF MQS), James Galea managed 113/125 (ISSF MQS), George Mifsud 111/125+1 and John Marmara 111/125+0.

The Finals results were;

1st Brian Galea 25/25 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 8/10, total score 44/50

2nd William Chetcuti 21/25 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 8/10, total score 43/50

3rd James Galea 18/25 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 1/5, total score 25/40

4th George Mifsud 18/25 + 3/5 + 3/5, total score 24/35

5th John Marmara 15/25 + 4/5, total score 19/30

6th Mikaela Galea 14/25, total score 14/25

The best two Shooters from Classes A, B and C who did not make it through to the Final Stages competed in another round of 25 targets from a single shot, starting from zero.

Christophe­r Vella won this challenge, he was followed by Matthew Busuttil who finished in second place and by Paul Formosa who finished in the third.

Three perfect straights of 25/25 hit targets were registered by Paul Sant, by John Marmara and by George Mifsud.

The best Shooter in Day 1 was William Chetcuti while the best Shooter in Day 2 was John Marmara.

The Juniors Women category was won by Mikaela Galea while the Juniors Men category was won by Nico Sciberras.

The best Veteran Shooter was John Marmara.

The top three Shooters in their respective classes were;

Class A

3rd James Galea 113/125

Class B

1st Mikaela Galea 115/125 2nd Nico Sciberras 109/125 (Countback Rule)

3rd Matthew Busuttil 109/125
