Etienne Bonello and Marie Claire Aquilina remain champions

The National Time Trail Championsh­ip organized by the Malta Cycling Federation ended recently where both Etienne Bonello and Marie Claire Aquilina, both of Team Greens remain Champions.

Etienne Bonello (Team Greens CC) remain as the Time Trial National Champion as he gained a total of 555 points, achieved by winning the Mriehel and Mtarfa races and a fourth place at ilMizieb. In second place with a total of 460 points, classified Christian Formosa of The Cyclists, while in third position was classified Clive Bugeja of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC with 420 points.

Marie Claire Aquilina of Team Greens CC confirmed her superiorit­y in her category making it three in a row to win the national championsh­ip with a maximum of 600 points. Teammates Lara Buttgieg and Michelle Vella Wood completed the all Greens ladies National Championsh­ip Podium with 525 and 450 points respective­ly.

The Under 23 new category was won with a total of 550 points by Gozitan Brandon Sultana as he ilMizieb race, while finished second both at Mriehel and Mtarfa. Bernard Sant and Carl Xuereb both of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC finished second and third with 540 and 455 points respective­ly.

Luke Borg of The Cyclist was crowned as the Junior champions with a maximum 600points gained by winning all the three races.

Two Mosta AF Sign Studio cyclists finished after him as Sean Enriquez (485 points) came second, while Max Zammit (480 points) came third.

The Master 40+ category was won by Ivan Zammit of B'Kara St.Joseph SC with 575 points gained by winning the Mriehel and Mtarfa races and a second place at il-Mizieb.

In second place with a total of 485 points, classified Malcolm Cachia of The Cyclists, while in third position was classified Nicholas Schembri of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC with 470 points.

The 50+ Masters Championsh­ip saw the success of Kevin Muscat of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC with 200 points gained from the Mriehel victory. Second was Joseph Micallef of Team Greens CC with 175 points.

The under 16 years male category was a complete success from Mosta AF Sign Studio CC riders. Matthew Galea Pirotta came first with 550 points by winning thew Mtarfa race and second places at Mriehel and il-Mizieb. Jacob Schembri (530 points) and Leon Aquilina (400 points) complete the podium.

Christina Spiteri of The Cyclist CC gained three victories in the under 16 Girls Championsh­ip with a maximum of 600 points.

Miguel Galea of The Cyclist CC gained three victories in the under 16 boys Championsh­ip with a maximum of 600 points. Luca Vella of B'Kara St.Joseph SC came second with485 points, while Jaeken Galea of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC (330 points) came third.

Hannah Dandria of Mosta AF Sign Studio CC gained three victories in the under 14 Girls Championsh­ip with a maximum of 600 points. She was followed by team mate Valentina Soler with a total of 350 points.

The Malta Cycling Federation wants to say thanks to all cyclists for their participat­ion as well as officials of all clubs, as well as team ARRTS Timing System for their great job.

Other thanks also go to the respective Local Councils, Transport Malta, Police, Local Enforcemen­t System Agency (LESA) and Emergency First Response services for their cooperatio­n.
