Pogba has penalty saved as Man United held 1-1 by Wolves

-

Paul Pogba missed a penalty for the fourth time in the past year as Manchester United had to settle for 1-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League on Monday.

The France midfielder's 68thminute attempt was saved by Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio, who dived to his right to palm the ball away.

Pogba, who pulled his jersey over his face when the final whistle sounded, took over spot-kick duties from Marcus Rashford, who scored a penalty in the 4-0 win over Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season and who has scored other crucial penalties for his club and England this year.

Anthony Martial put United into the lead at Molineux after running onto Rashford's pass and shooting first time with his left foot high into the net in the 27th.

United handed Martial the No. 9 jersey for this season, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demanding more goals from the winger he has converted into a striker. It's two goals in two games for the Frenchman, who also netted from close range against Chelsea.

Wolves was overrun in the first half but improved in the second half and scored what proved to be the equalizer through a superb strike from Ruben Neves.

The midfielder received the ball on the edge of the area from Joao Moutinho, took a touch, and curled a shot in off the crossbar. The video assistant referee checked the goal for offside against Moutinho but the goal stood.

Wolves also drew its first game, 0-0 at Leicester.

Liverpool to sign former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm?

After Alisson sustained a calf injury on the opening day of the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp has been forced into changes to his setup between the sticks, with Adrian currently deputising for the Brazil international.

However, despite the recent signing of veteran Andy Lonergan, goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has revealed that an approach may be made for Vorm, who is available on a free transfer after being released by Tottenham Hotspur.

Achterberg told NOS: "A good third goalie at a top club is not a superfluous luxury, I have always said.

"The arrival of Vorm has been discussed. Lonergan has more than 250 matches at Championship level and that is the sort of experience not to be underestimated."

Vorm made a total of 47 appearances during his five-year spell with Spurs.

Arsenal to include Champions League clause in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal?

Arsenal have reportedly informed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that they are prepared to offer him a new lucrative contract.

With the forward having contributed 34 goals from 51 outings in the Premier League since February 2018, Arsenal are keen to extend the Gabon international's deal past 2021.

However, while Mesut Ozil is still on the payroll, the Gunners are not in a position to hand the 30-year-old a set wage packet anywhere close to the earnings of the German.

The Telegraph says that Arsenal's hierarchy are now working on structured terms which would see Aubameyang earn a large bonus if the North Londoners return to the Champions League.
