Erjon Beu scored another two goals yesterday, his third successive brace, to lead Lija Athletic to an easy victory over Pieta and gain the third successive victory. Lija were a superior outfit with Pieta rarely in the game. Lija took an early lead when Beu rounded a defender before beating Chircop with a low drive. Pieta responded with an Adamec header and on the other end a Seakanyeng header skimmed the crossbar.

On 30 minutes Lija doubled the score with a Leon Muscat drive from close range following a corner action. Pieta tried to get back in the game but Pieta controlled with relative ease even in the second fourty five minutes. Ten minutes from time Lija put the issue beyond doubt when Seakanyeng dribbled his way inside the area but was tripped by Adamec and from the resultant penalty Erjon Beu drilled the ball home for his sixth goal so far this season.

In stoppage time Pieta were unlucky not to score a consolation goal but Adamec’s fierce drive from a freekick slammed against the crossbar.
