Chamber of Advocates Annual Company Law Conference announced

Company Law in the European Court of Justice, recent company failures, compliance obligation­s, the role of the company secretary and diversity in the Maltese boardroom will be amongst the main topics at this year’s annual Company Law Conference organized jointly by the Chamber of Advocates through its Malta Law Academy Foundation and the Department of Commercial Law at the University of Malta.

The annual conference, organised and chaired by Dr David Fabri, will this year be held on Wednesday 30 October between 1pm and 5.30pm at the Valletta University Campus.

Following a welcome address by the President of the Chamber of Advocates,

Dr Louis De Gabriele and an opening address by the Chief Justice, Dr Joseph Azzopardi, Dr David Fabri will devote his presentati­on to a number of companies who have been in the news for the wrong reasons while Prof Peter G. Xuereb, Judge of the European Court of Justice will deliver his keynote speech on Company Law in the European Court of Justice.

During the second part of the conference, Etienne Borg Cardona will address the topic Too big to fail? Revisiting recent company failures, Dr George Brancaleon­e will talk about compliance obligation­s nightmare and the role of the company secretary whereas Mrs Juanita Bencini will discuss the issue of diversity in the Maltese Boardroom.
