Maltese women’s national team ends training camp in Sicily with a win
The women’s national team were invited by Handball Erice for a training camp in Sicily.
While there, they played two friendly games against their women’s team. Handball Erice has been re-ormed this year after a number of years in which they didn’t participate in the Italian league. T
his team consists of a variety of players from different nationalities including a number of national team players and players who used to play in the Italy’s top flight and that this year have embraced the ambitious project of the Sicilian team.
The women’s team fought hard but unfortunately lost their first friendly on Friday with a score of 40-27. Nonetheless, the girls kept their heads high and managed to win their second friendly the next day against the same team with a score of 27-28.
The second game was a great example of determination, teamwork and friendship. The girls worked hard, fought for every ball and in one day, after only one training session, managed to overcome a team which had been working together for the past few months.
The Malta Handball Association (MHA) is very proud of these team’s performances and most of all the work done during this camp.
Apart from gaining more international experience, this team also had the opportunity to get to know each other better and to try new systems in view of the upcoming competitions.
The MHA looks forward to continue to offer similar opportunities to its national teams. A big thank you goes also to Handball Erice for offering a tenacious opposition and mostly for being such generous hosts to our ladies’ team. Lastly, a big thank you goes out to the ladies and coaches for the heart put in the games, the work done during the training camp and the commitment shown during the past years.
The MHA also thanked the Maltese Olympic Committee, SportMalta and its sponsors for their continued support.
