Great disappointment if we lose again against Malta – Faroe Islands coach Lars Olsen

-

Faroe Islands coach, former Danish international Lars Olsen, said it will be a great disappointment if Faroe Islands lose again against Malta.

Speaking during yesterday’s press conference, Olsen said that against Romania his side played a very good game but suffered three goals in the last 15 minutes of the game. He said that although they played a good game it was still a defeat. He said that two of his players were injured against Romania and are doubtful starters for the game against Malta.

For Olsen this will be the last match at the helm of the team after an eight year spell, and is looking forward to gain the three points. Olsen said that he is looking forward to this match, and is a game they want to win to finish the commitments on a top note.

Speaking about the Malta side, Olsen said that the Maltese are very good in defence and leave very few scoring opportunities to their opponents, and can be dangerous in fast breaks. He said that he is aware that coach Farrugia rested some players like Steve Borg and Michael Mifsud in Saturday’s match against Sweden, who will surely be included in the Malta starting line up.

Last game also for Gregersen

Defender Atli Gregersen was also present at the pre-match press conference. Like coach Olsen, for the 37-year old defender this will be his last home game for the national team.

Gregersen said that they have been waiting for this match since the defeat suffered at Ta’ Qali, and are looking to take sweet revenge over the Maltese. He said that the players are eager to give a big send off to coach Olsen after eight years at the helm of the team.

Gregersen said that against Malta they will be going all out for victory.

He said he watched the Malta team against Sweden and said the Maltese conceded very few scoring opportunities and only suffered the goals from two penalties and an own goal.

Gregersen concluded that he wished that the supporters will carry his side towards victory to give coach Olsen a well deserved farewell.
