Masters football championship kicks off

-

The start of the championship for this season was good and interesting. Champions DINGLI DESANA faced a great challenge by NAXXAR MASTERS in their first game. However, although they had several regular players missing due to injury they managed to get through and win their first three points. Naxxar have a strong team well balanced and the players are full of enthusiasm and determined togo far.

They can challenge any team. Dingli depends mainly on the ability of Simon Shead to get the goals, although lately the team got a lift up by signing in the last minutes the experienced Steve Wellman

MOSTA also had good win beating TARGA GAP 8-4, but not before being surprised twice. At the beginning Targa Gap took a20 lead and they were also up in front at the beginning of the second half 4-2.

It seemed rather difficult for Mosta, but when they entered Clifton Ciantar he made all the difference scoring six goals, one less than the record a great performance indeed.

In the other two games we witnessed several goals. Both MARSA WHITE STARS and VALLETTA MASTERS could score at liberty beating QORMI ELEKTRA 9-1 and ZURRIEQ WOLVES R9-2 respectively. Marsa were too good for new team Qormi who had in the team the wellknown Michael Degiorgio. Player coach Alexander Ribic who not only was a leader for Marsa, but also showing class in scoring four.

Superior VALLETTA has a strong team and could have scored more being dangerous in whatever they did. Nikolai Filipov could not be stopped, scoring four and was unlucky not to score more. Zurrieq disappointed and could not find a way how to stop Valletta

DINGLI - NAXXAR 9 - 7

TARGA GAP - MOSTA 4 – 8

MARSA WS - QORMI ELEKTRA 9-1 VALLETTA - ZURRIEQ WOLVES 9-2
