GREE Hotsticks move into semi finals to face Qormi or White Hart

-

The HAM Challenge Cup continued on Sunday and GREE Hotsticks confirmed their place in the semi-finals set for the 17th November. Following their 2-0 defeat in the first game Floriana Young Stars faced an uphill struggle to overcome Gree Hotsticks and matters got even worse as the Sliema side took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to goals from Luca Runza and Julian Zahra. The second quarter was goalless and Gree Hs took a 2-0 lead into the half time break. Floriana YS were providing little treat and the few chances they created were well handled by Ludwig Cole whom was standing in for the absent Emile Borg. Gree controlled well and rounded off the score in the third quarter when Runza got his second goal. The fourth quarter was a mere formality and the final whistle saw the final score read Gree Hotstick 3 – Floriana Young Stars 0. Umpires were Keith Calleja and Paul Brincat.

Gree’s opponents in the semi-final should have been decided from the second match between White Hart and Qormi Daikin. After 10 mins Qormi were leading 2-0 thanks to goals from Juan Sarcia and Ayrton Carlos Falzon when the game was stopped due to the lightening storm that struck the area. The game will continue on Sunday at 11.00am from the 10th Minute of the first quarter with the score at 2-0. Both Qormi Daikin and White Hart have already qualified for the semifinals.

Before this game at 9.00am Rabat and Floriana YS will play off for the fourth and final semi-final spot.
