Hibs youngsters reach their century

-

Hibernians 100 Pyrinto 50 (29-12, 29-11, 19-17, 23-10)

Pyrinto's opponents in their opening match were just short of a century, but the Hibs clan managed it exactly in the last second of play. Not that it mattered much to the Pyrinto group, who were quite happy to reach their half century.

Hibs, denied of their top group eligible players, had a six man side, which was enough to garner a first league win, after their initial opening loss, to the other foreign side, Fusion. They had to make do without Luke Farrugia, Kieron Caruana, Isaac Bonett and Matthew Formosa.

Pyrinto had changes, from their opening loss to high flying Mellieha. Three players were missing, Mikko Kujanpelto, Matthew Bonucci and Kim Mattila, but two new ones were taking their place, Vussi Haapaniemi and Ramzi Oni.

Hibs went all out to a bright start, as Paul Attard netted three triples in a short time, in a 12-2, run, and the Paolites followed up with another 13-0 run, as attard claimed another trey. Pyrinto were more active towards the end of the period, as Mikka Halmela nad Mikka Mustonen made their buckets.

Despite an already growing lead for Hibs. The second quarter was , more or less, on the same lines, as the Paolites doubled their score. More triples followed, with Neil Cassar, twice, Kurt Sultana and Matthew Attard. Halmela became Pyrinto's main point grabber, as his side kept falling further behind. At the interval the score stood at 58-23, for the Paolites.

After the break Hibs started to ease up, and the game become somewhat more balanced. Oni managed an early triple, for Pyrinto, whilst Hibs had Sultana, nad later on it was Paul Attard, with free throws, and another trey, with Matthew Attard adding another one.

Mustanen, who led the side in their opening match, increased his points tally, but Hibs were already way out ahead, going on to a 77-40 score.

The last session had the Paolites putting pressure once more on the opposing defence. This time it was Matthew Attard making hoops, also netting his third trey, as the Pyrinto side again experienced difficulty in obtaining points. Hibs made a late play to reach their century, and as Pyrinto lost their last possession, with five seconds left on the clock, the Hibs youngsters rushed forward, and Matthew attard potted the century hoop, as the final buzzer sounded.
