ASMK’s Christmas Demolition Derby to be held tomorrow
Tomorrow Sunday 22nd December 2019 the “Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi” " will be organizing the Special Christmas time event which is held once a year. Like in previous years this 26th event is being organized to raise funds for the Istrina. The day’s program starts at 10.00am with the 3rd Autocross event of the ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2019/2020 National League. The Autocross program is expected to end at around 3.00pm, to start of the Demolition Derby.
Although the Demolition competitors are finding it very difficult to buy old cars for this annual special event held only "Once a Year", 46 competitors registered for this competition. In this edition we will be seeing 16 new competitors while the other 30 drivers are those who regularly participate in this game. Equally, when the number of new entrants is more than a third of other drivers, this makes it more difficult to predict who stands the chance to be a Winner and a Runner Up.
Although voluntary collision with cars is the role of this game, ASMK has special drivers safety rules that must and are to be observed so as to protect the safety of all drivers in this game. It is envisaged so the preventive rules of this game are to be respected by all drivers during and to the end of the Demolition Derby. Meanwhile, the Association takes all the necessary precautions for this to happen.
Meanwhile last weekend had to be a very busy one for the Association where on Friday 13th December the Association planned to hold the second event of the National Motocross Championship 2019/2020 in Ta' Qali Sports Complex. This event had to be postponed following the storm of the day before. But, on Sunday 15 December, under blue sky, ASMK organized the second event of the 2019/2020 Wotomoto National Enduro Championship at the Fawwara hard rocks quarry. The results of this Enduro were: Class A winner is Bernard Sammut on his sponsored Beta 300cc motorcycle with his best time of 5 minutes 4.57 seconds. James Zahra followed Sammut on his Sherco 300cc motorcycle with a timed race of 5 minutes 17.92 secs. Third placed Matthew Gauci on another Sherco 300cc motorcycle performed his best in 5 minutes 21.10 seconds.
In Class B Melvin Borg on a 300cc Sherco won this class in 7 minutes 2.48 seconds and was followed by Aiden Cilia la Corte on a Husqvarna with a best time of 7 minutes 5.26 seconds. Third placed Michael von Brockdorff on his 200C Beta performed his best time of 7 minutes 6.60 seconds.
In Class C Jamie Vassallo won on his 150cc KTM motorcycle with a best time of 6 minutes 55.53 seconds an was followed by Mario Gatt on a Honda 250cc with his best time of 8 minutes 44.56 seconds.
In Class D the winner is young Julian Scicluna on a Beta 300cc motorcycle with a timed run of 7 minutes 43.45 seconds. Julian was followed by Antoine Muscat on a KTM 85cc with a timed lap of 10 minutes 38.23 seconds.
Next Enduro event is planned to take place on 19th January 2020 at the tal-Ballut quarry l/o Naxxar, and starts at 10. 00am. The next Motocross event is to be held on 5th January 2020 in the ASMK complex of Ta' Qali, starting at 10: 00am.
