‘Government investing significant effort to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy’
Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services and the Digital Economy Clayton Bartolo has said that the government is investing significant effort and resources to assess processes, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and tap into new technologies to render the government’s response more efficient.
Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi and Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services and Digital Economy Clayton Bartolo attended a graduation ceremony organised by the Malta Communications Authority (MCA). 50 students have completed a course organised by MCA in eCommerce.
Bartolo highlighted that the eBiznify programme is the result of the MCA’s ongoing effort to further improve Malta’s position on the eCommerce front. It is a core deliverable of the National eCommerce Strategy spanning the government’s effort on eCommerce and covering the period between 2014 and 2020. The strategy seeks to ensure that Maltese businesses have the necessary means and skills to capitalise on opportunities brought about by eCommerce.
“The Government is investing significant effort and resources to assess processes, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and tap into new technologies to render the government’s response more efficient. A case in point are the government services which are now available online, dramatically reducing the time needed for citizens to apply and consume government services,” Bartolo said.
Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi congratulated all participants upon the completion of this course funded by the European Union. This course’s objective was to develop the knowledge and competences of individuals through ICT upskilling and reskilling training by explaining and promoting different forms of electronic transactions and emerging monetisation models, he said. “This, in turn, would promote businesses to consider expanding their reach through online methods and tap into wider sectors of the market.”
