MFA initiative offers accommodation support to health staff
The Malta Football Association issued another statement in connection with the unprecedented situation everyone is facing due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which calls for solidarity, mutual respect and unity. In the statement the Malta Football Association made it quite clear that it is committed to supporting not only the football family but the entire Maltese community in these challenging times.
It continued to state that at a time when the dedicated and selfless work of the medical professionals is essential in the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Malta FA is offering support to healthcare workers who may require alternative accommodation in the interest of public health.
A number of rooms are being made available to the Ministry of Health after the Malta FA reached an agreement with three accommodation service providers – Cozy Rooms Hotel (Sliema), Inħawi Boutique Hostel (St Julians) and Charleston Heights Residence in Naxxar – all owned by members of the local football family who have significantly reduced their daily room rates in support of this initiative. The related costs will be covered by the
Malta FA through our social responsibility fund as part of our Football For Life programme.
This accommodation support programme will be fully co-ordinated by the Central Procurement and Supplies Unit within the Ministry of Health.
While reiterating our immense gratitude to the medical staff and all those contributing to the nationwide efforts to tackle coronavirus, the Malta FA would also like to thank the afore-mentioned accommodation service providers for their co-operation and support.
The Association appeals to the general public to follow the advice and instructions given by the health authorities.
