Local artist wins several awards abroad
Chev. Mario Zammit Lewis is an award winning artist who has participated in several exhibitions around Europe.
In March/April this year he was selected by Vittorio Sgarbi for the Premio di Avanguardia with his painting Filfla. The news and painting were published in Art Now, twice.
His painting Model Preparing to Pose was selected for the Premio Internationale Guglielmo II with Angelo Crespi, Edoardo Sylos Labini, Sandro Serradifalco and Vittorio Sgarbi in the jury. It will be exhibited from September 12 to 18 at the Museo Civico d’Arte Moderna Giuseppe Sciortino and published in Art Now in July/August 2020. From this month and for most of 2021 he will be on the Italian ODEON TV for the series Art TV gallery Storie di Artisti presented by the Art Critic Leonarda Zappulla in a commented three minute video of his works.
Chev. Zammit-Lewis is published on a double page in the book Art Leader to be published later on this month. He was awarded a ‘coefficient 3’ by the well-known Milanese art critic Angelo Crespi.
He was also selected by a team of 10 Art critics: Mario Salvo, Orazio Vancheri, Franco Buffrini, Antonio Castellana, Francesca Callipari, Nino Argentati, Marcella Mondo and the two Gallerie owners of Area Contesa Arte Teresa Zurio and Tina Zurlo, for the Premio Internationale Raffaello Sanzio for the 500 years celebration of Raffaello Sanzio in via Margutta (only 63% of the artists asking to participate were selected). He will be represented by his painting Modella dai Cappelli Neri.
