Public Service Week 2020 starts on Friday 18 September

-

The theme of Public Service Week 2020, to be launched on Friday, is ‘Is-Servizz Pubbliku Dejjem Miegħek’.

This year’s Public Service Week will be different than usual, reflecting the country’s changed circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Office of the Principal Permanent Secretary said that during the pandemic, the Public Service “performed at its best, continuing to render a full service to its customers. All this will be witnessed during the activities being held between Friday 18 September and Friday 25 September.”

During last year’s Public Service Week, Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar, announced that this year was to be one during which all renewals of the previous years would be consolidated. “This consolidation has now taken place and information will be provided on the effects of the renewal, the resulting levels of trust, which measures have had such effects, and the resulting knowledge.”

There will also be a focus on the challenges facing the public sector and how opportunities such as new work- life balances, more investment in employees, more investment in technology and more innovation in service provision to customers could be created.

“During Public Service Week, the Public Service not only consults its clients but also informs them about its work in recent years and how this has led to improved services.”

The events planned include a PBS broadcast of a concert by Malta’s National Orchestra at Ħaġar Qim on Friday, Heritage Malta opening all Valletta museums free of charge on 21 September, a number of seminars and more.

All activities will be broadcast live on the Public Service Facebook page.
