86-year-old man becomes 24th person to die with COVID-19 in Malta
An 86- year- old man has become the 24th person to die with COVID-19 in Malta.
The man tested positive on 8 September and died at Mater Dei hospital on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said.
He had underlying health conditions, it added.
He was the second COVID-19 death this week, after a 98year-old man passed away on Monday.
Thirty- eight new Coronavirus cases were recorded on Tuesday, while 34 patients have recovered, health authorities said.
In all, the number of cases edges up again to 678, getting closer to the record 699 active cases we had on 20 August.
There have been 2,814 cases in Malta, with 24 deaths, more than half of them in the past month.
The 34 recoveries recorded Tuesday bring the total to 2,113.
The number of swab tests carried out on Monday was 2,409, for a toral of 235,640.
