Not all MCAST exams can be held in Gozo – Gozo University Group told

-

“Despite this issue, Chircop made it clear that this opportunity to hold certain exams on the Gozo Campus where possible is very much available to all students.”

The Gozo University Group said that not all MCAST exams would be able to be held in Gozo.

“Following today’s meeting with the MCAST Gozo Director Godwin Grech, together with Deputy Principals Tatjana Chircop and Mario Cardona, we were informed about the possibility of holding certain MCAST exams on the Gozo Campus,” a Gozo University Group statement read.

“By reason of having a different assessment system than that adopted by the University of Malta, Cardona said that not all exams are awarded the same possibility of being held on the Gozo Campus. Firstly, certain exams require the use of workshops and other labs and thus need to be held in that respective workshop. Secondly, Cardona informed us about the system of assessment that MCAST adopts, that being of holding various assessments at regular intervals, rather than holding exams at the end of each semester. As a result of this, certain exams might take place on a regular school day where the student might have other lessons either before or after the exam. Thus, in such a situation, the student is still required to go to the MCAST Campus in Malta to follow other lectures.”

“Despite this issue, Chircop made it clear that this opportunity to hold certain exams on the Gozo Campus where possible is very much available to all students. In fact, students who wish to sit for their exams on the Gozo Campus are to inform their respective Institute Directors in due time in order to have the necessary arrangements organised for such exam. Preferably, as soon as students receive their examination timetables, it is advised that they inform their Institute concerning their wish to sit for their exams in Gozo. It is the responsibility of every student to inform their Institute at an appropriate time. This does not only apply to TCA’s but also to synoptic exams.”
