110 new cases of COVID-19 found; three more people die with the virus
110 new cases of COVID-19 were registered on Tuesday, figures by health authorities released on Tuesday showed.
161 recoveries were registered yesterday. It means that there are now 2,097 active cases of the virus – with the number having decreased from Monday.
Three elderly men who were positive for COVID-19 died, the health ministry said.
The first was a 78-year-old man who tested positive on 2 November and died on Sunday at the Good Samaritan Long-term Facility.
The second patient to die was an 87-year-old man who tested positive on 6 November. He died on Monday at Mater Dei Hospital.
The third was a 79-year-old man who tested positive on 5 November. He also died on Monday at Mater Dei.
The ministry expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and urged the public to keep following health protocols.
The number of Covid-19 deaths has now reached 101.
2,345 swab tests were carried out between Monday and Tuesday, taking the total number of swabs up to 388,663 so far.
Authorities said that yesterday’s cases are still being investigated, but gave details about the cases reported on Monday.
Out of the 103 cases reported: 26 were family members of previously known cases, 9 were work colleagues of positive cases, 4 were direct contacts of positive cases, and 2 were from social gatherings with other positive cases.
The total number of cases now stands at 8,247. 6,049 of those have recovered.
