The Malta Gaming Authority appoints Chief Executive Officer

Carl Brincat has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Gaming Authority.

“This appointmen­t was made after a rigorous process following the issuance of a public call for applicatio­ns in December of last year. This was the first time that the CEO was selected through an open call procedure as recommende­d by Minister Schembri himself,” a government statement read.

“Such a process enhances the Authority’s credibilit­y and determinat­ion in promoting transparen­cy, as well as sending out a clear message to gaming operators on the seriousnes­s of the Maltese jurisdicti­on. The newly appointed CEO shall enhance on the success achieved during the past years, namely in placing Malta as a main referral point within the gaming industry, repeatedly proving its resilience during such challengin­g times. The government is committed to providing its support and assistance to gaming companies, current and new ones, to grow in a

safe and reputable environmen­t. I congratula­te Dr Brincat on his new role,” said Minister Schembri.

Carl Brincat is a lawyer by profession, previously occupying the role of Chief Legal and Enforcemen­t Officer within the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). He has been working with the MGA for the past six years and was part of the strategic direction team of the Authority, the high-level regulatory committees, as well as part of the team that spearheade­d the change in the gaming regulatory framework, which was put into effect in 2018.
