Maltese company ‘model for research-based new technologies’
The HandsOn Systems company is a local company which in the last 10 years since its foundation has applied research and innovation in order to create new technologies and solutions, which in turn are commercialised with various local and foreign clients.
These innovations are then used in products and systems which improve the efficiency of private enterprise and make a difference for a better quality of life in important sectors such as healthcare, security, and the environment.
During a visit to the company’s main office in the Mosta Technopark, Minister for Research, Innovation and the Coordination of post Covid-19 Strategy Owen Bonnici said that this company is a concrete model for how research can be developed in order to provide new solutions in sectors such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, electric vehicle technologies and other applications which utilise cutting-edge solutions such as RFID in the field of tracking and the sector related to the internet of things. He said that this company was also funded by the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) as part of a larger project to create innovations in particular logistical processes in the aviation sector.
He said that the company has an impressive portfolio of international clients and this augurs well for the future.
Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Farrugia said that the company currently employs 35 people in the field of research and has opened market and regional offices in various parts of the world including Italy, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and South America.
During the visit, Minister Bonnici was shown the research innovations most researched by this company such as tracking systems in the field of transport, healthcare services, and even private enterprise.
