-

Żurrieq Sunrise and San Ġiljan Saints returned to winning ways and therefore back to contention for a place in the MAFA Special League quarter finals after seeing off their respective opponents.

As the sixth round of matches from this special competition was played, even Valletta St Pauls registered their second win of the season as they defeated Mosta Vikings.

In Group A, Żurrieq Sunrise registered a comfortable 4-0 win over Fgura Spartans. The latter suffered their third consecutive defeat and are searching for the first points of the competition.

On the other hand, Żurrieq made amends after their disappointing defeat against Versity AFC.

The team led by Kris Bugeja started aggressively this match and they managed to surge ahead in no time through Axel Fleri.

In the second half, the Sunrise maintained their attacking flair and they scored three more goals through Diego Sanchez, Yulya Emura and Axel Fleri who completed a personal brace.

In Group B, San Ġiljan Saints registered a comfortable 3-1 victory over Ta’ Xbiex St Helen. The Saints were in no mood of conceding favours and succeeded to produce a good match with Ta’ Xbiex finding it difficult to play their typical match.

In the second half, the Saints were awarded a penalty which was converted by Malachy TobinLarkin.

In the dying seconds of the match, Ta Xbiex St Helens reduced the arrears through Darko Bjelanovic.
