Nearly ive years on: Family in fresh appeal for information on missing man

-

The family of a man who went missing nearly five years ago has made a fresh appeal for information about his disappearance.

Writing on Facebook, Stephanie Stewart said that her uncle, Tom Stewart, went missing in Malta on 20 May 2016.

“My family and I would like to put out a fresh appeal for information leading up to the 5 year anniversary of his disappearance.”

“Tom is 6ft 5” with sandy coloured thinning hair,” she wrote. “He is from Luton so speaks English and does not speak Maltese,” she added.

She added that the man may have left Malta. “If you have any information or think you may have seen him contact me on +7799629732 or 00 44 7799629732.”

Alternatively contact LBT global on 0800 098 8485.”

Tom had moved to Malta with his wife Phyllis a year before his disappearance.

Last year, Stephanie had told

Times of Malta that the last lead was in November 2019.

“A woman contacted us saying there was a homeless man living in Marsascala who matched his description. He got on a flight straight away, but unfortunately, when we met him, it wasn’t him.”

Tom’s family has spent years and a lot of money travelling to Malta four or five times a year, trying to find any information that will help solve the mystery.

pendent a few months after Tom’s disappearance, his wife had said that despite her efforts and a reward which was also set up to encourage people to approach her, no one seems to have sighted her husband.

Stewart had explained the details which led to her husband’s disappearance, who was reported missing after escaping from Mount Carmel. She had highlighted the lack of support provided by the local police in their effort to find the missing man, a claim the police had denied. Stewart had then said she could not understand why her husband was admitted to a mental hospital in the first place. She told this newspaper that her husband is of sound mental health but was still taken to Mount Carmel. She had said that her husband is diabetic, but mentally sane.
