Week 2 is drawing to a close in the renovation of the training grounds pitches at Ta' Qali as part of the investment in capital projects the Malta Football Association has embarked on to improve football infrastructure.

This project shall be completed by the third week of August.

For the past week works carried out included the removal of existing pitch profile.

This renovation of training pitches in Ta' Qali has the aim to modify them to the highest quality pitches for professional football, the target is to have these pitches ready for the Malta National Team’s build-up and training ahead of the already eagerly awaited World Cup Qualifier against Cyprus at home on September 1st.

Sports tourism will also benefit from this training pitches renovation, in sync with the Association’s resolve to provide a cutting-edge practice for the National Teams at a single location, whereby providing them with a truly professional environment to excel on the international platform.

Having been built in the 1980s, the training pitches require significant investment to improve their performance throughout the year.

The construction of a deep green colour pitch with new surface installed and maintained throughout the year will follow the works currently underway.

Other tasks in this capital project include the Modification to Existing Floodlighting System together with Ancillary Civil Works.

This project is a further proof of the endeavour by the Association to improve the country's footballing infrastructure across the board and in the years to come.
