Parking area for 90 cars as part of the Għeriexem project

-

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg visited the locality of Rabat where he announced that the Għeriexem project, which has now entered its final phase, will be offering a parking area for around 90 cars.

Minister Ian Borg said that the €4 million project was essential for Rabat residents, especially for the safety of the families who live in this street which had been left in a very dangerous state.

“Now that we have entered the last phase of this project, we have also seen that we give around 90 new car spaces to Rabat residents for parking. Furthermore, we will also make sure that there will be charging points for electric cars because we really believe in cleaner and more sustainable transport. It is worth mentioning that this project will also give a more aesthetically pleasing look, as it will provide an embellished belvedere, a new solar footpath system that gives about 40% of the light, and a number of new trees and shrubs. This project is therefore another clear example of high-quality infrastructure through which people’s safety remains our top priority. We truly believe that with better infrastructure, people will benefit from a better quality of life and through the Għeriexem project, we believe that this is what we will provide for Rabat residents,” said Minister Ian Borg.

Infrastructure Malta has laid more than 370 piles, between three and five storeys, to consolidate this road and stop subsidence damage to its structure and nearby buildings. Asphalting started in the past few days, marking the project a step closer to its conclusion.
