Senior citizens to benefit from discounts on internet services

-

An agreement was signed between Active Ageing and Community Care and GO, whereby Maltese citizens over the age of 60 still living in the community will benefit from new offers on internet services when using the Kartanzjan.

Minister for Senior Citizens and Active Ageing Michael Farrugia, who presided the official signing of the agreement, said that about 120,000 senior citizens can benefit from this initiative.

He emphasised that the aim of this agreement is to encourage senior citizens to make use of the multiple technological systems available to communicate and stay active within the community.

Senior citizens will receive a price reduction ranging between 17% and 22% on two internet offers, upon presentation of their Identity Card.

GO’s Chief Commercial Officer Antonio Ivankovic explained that senior citizens will benefit from a price reduction of €5.99 on Home Internet and a TV package that includes more than 10,000 hours of films and series, meaning that they will pay €30 per month instead of €35.99. Those wishing to benefit from roaming online offers, can opt for the Mobile Internet Service at just €19.99 monthly instead of €24.99. Those having the Home Pack, will benefit more because the monthly subscription will be available for €17.99 instead of € 22.99.

Minister Michael Farrugia recalled that all those with a 60+ ID are entitled to the benefits of the Kartanzjan scheme. Amongst the current benefits, one can find several discounts from various outlets in Malta and Gozo. 60 companies and 114 businesses are part of the Kartanzjan scheme.

Minister Michael Farrugia also said that the expression of interest for businesses, enterprises and companies wishing to join this scheme is still open. All interested parties are to send their proposal to aaccservices@gov.mt or call 2278 8800 for further information. Details and information on the offers and discounts as part of the Kartanzjan scheme may be accessed on www.activeageing.gov.mt.
