National Karting Championsh­ip comes to an end

The Malta National Karting Championsh­ip came to an end on Sunday, 12th of September. A championsh­ip of six classes and divided into four rounds.

The smallest class, the Entry Class, was won by Mason Barun on kart number 609, with 95 points, followed by Ayrton Jon Tonna on kart number 12, with 86 points and by Zane Pace with kart number 10, with 69 points.

Daniel Abela won the 60cc class with kart number 49 with 93 points, followed by Kyle Micallef on kart number 5 with 81 points and Jacob Micallef on kart 111 with 69 points.

Kieran Galea won the Junior 125cc class with kart number 272 with 104 points, followed by Kian Gauci with kart 11 with 71 points and Nico Borg with kart number 28 with 33 points.

The Vortex Rok GP Class was won by Micah Scicluna on kart 339 with 93 points, followed by Isaac Micallef with kart 503 with 54 points and Jamie Mangion on kart 44 with 64 points.

The most contested class through 17 competitor­s, the Rotax Max class, was won by Nicky Gauci on kart number 22 with 69 points, followed by Eman Muscat on kart number 18 also with 69 points and by Owen Mangion on kart number 68 with 65 points.

Kyle Mercieca won the Iame x30 class on kart number 338 with 89 points, followed by Ryan Borg on kart number 5 with 82 points and Keith Micallef on kart number 17 with 50 points.

With these results, driver Nicky Gauci will compete in the Rotax Max Challenge World Finals at the Bahrain Internatio­nal Circuit next December.

In October, Kyle Mercieca, Kian Gauci, and Dario Mifsud will compete in the Iame World Finals in

Adria, Italy.

Micah Scicluna will compete in the Rok Cup Super Final in Lonato, Italy, also in October.

Mikhail Mercieca wins fourth round

After winning four rounds of the championsh­ip Mikhail Mercieca won the fourth round and the Enemed Malta National GT3 Championsh­ip.

Mikhail Mercieca was followed by Bernard with only 1 point difference and Jason Muscat.

The plan was that the winner of this championsh­ip would represent Malta in the FIA Games in Paris, however these were cancelled, and the Paris participat­ion got replaced with a cash price.

World first aid day

On World First Aid Day, on the 11th of September, with the support of the Fédération Internatio­nale de l'Automobile, FIA and the collaborat­ion of Malta Red Cross, the Malta Motorsport Federation organized a Basic First Aid course.

The 10-hour course kicked off with three hours of an online session on Thursday the 9th of September, followed by another two sessions at a hotel in St Julian's on Saturday the 11th.

Participan­ts who attended this course were awarded a threeyear, internatio­nally recognized certificat­e, locally recognized by Malta Qualificat­ions Recognitio­n Informatio­n Centre (MQRIC) and the Occupation­al Health and Safety Authority per L.N. 348 of 2011. Apart from a 3-year certificat­e, the attendees acquired a personaliz­ed First Aid ID card.

The Malta Motorsport Federation offered this course to the Committee members of its affiliated clubs, marshals, officials, and other motorsport helpers.
