We would like Malta back on white list, but we’re supportive of the government – PressEnter CEO

- GIUSEPPE ATTARD

At the inauguration of PressEnter Group’s new headquarters in Malta, Press Enter CEO Lahcene Merzoug expressed his desire to see Malta back on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) white list, adding that they are supportive of the government’s efforts to do this.

Merzoug gave a clear picture of the employment situation with regard to the iGaming industry. “Currently there are over 1,000 job listings for the iGaming sector. The search for talent is continuous and finding Maltese talent is one of our priorities.”

Currently Press Enter employs just around 120 people; this is four times the employees they had starting 2021 and 25% of these are Maltese workers. Merzoug said that by the end of 2022, they plan on doubling their employees providing 150 job opportunities to the Maltese market.

“Since 2013 I have called Malta my home and therefore I feel greatly invested in contributing to the economic growth of this country. Here at Press Enter we want to introduce a new mentality of work, that of having a home away from home,” Merzoug said.

Invited to the inauguration, Min

ister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri had great words of praise to the PressEnter group stating that “Malta is the stage for your global ambitions. Our policies as a government are there to attract companies to invest in Malta.”

Schembri said that in addition, we are committed to further bolstering our talent, so much so that in the coming days an agreement will be signed with UNITY so that lecturers can be trained to teach the language in this field.

Schembri then illustrated the point that “the investment PressEnter has made in Malta is a continuous testament of the growth in this sector. With an ever growing work force and the lowest unemployment rate ever, Malta can not only provide for the Maltese but also other nationalities.”

The Maltese islands have a lot to offer, Schembri said. “PressEnter choosing Malta over other jurisdictions is clear proof of this. As a government we will always stand with you against adversity and by pulling the same rope we will get out of this. We are completely investing all our energy and time in order to get back to the FATF white list.”
