The national water conservation campaign, WATER – Be the Change, will participate in Malta’s first-ever Earth Day Green Fair, as part of the International Earth Day celebrations. Once more, millions around the world will celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 22, marking the 52nd anniversary of the very first Earth Day celebrated in 1970.

This year’s theme is ‘Invest in Our Planet’, and Malta’s WATER – Be the Change campaign will join several local social enterprises and NGOs with the purpose of reaching out to the general public to demonstrate that the Earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and constant sustenance. This year’s edition of Earth Day intends to urge governments, authorities, and private citizens to take solid steps towards more sustainable practices, to purchase from responsible companies, and to take more of an active role in and for the Earth’s wellbeing.

The Earth Day Green Fair is being organised at Il-Majjistral Nature & History Park and The Farmoury in Manikata. The event will be held on April 22, 23 and 24 from 11am to 6pm.

The Water Be the Change campaign is taking part in this event to support the greater cause by promoting easy-to-apply water conservation practices that can be observed at your home, work and farm. Come visit our mobile unit next to the food court to find out how YOU can become a Water Conservation Champion! Water conservation and protecting our groundwater is easier than you think. Live experiments on The Water Cycle, Cloud Formation, Water Filtration and Density will also be held at the stand for all curious minds. You can come and put yourself to the test with our Water Conservation Champion Quiz. We look forward to seeing you all there.

In line with the event’s core message, people are encouraged to reach the venue by means of public transport, bicycles, and car sharing. Entrance to the event is free, as are most of the activities conducted by grassroots organisations, activists, innovators, and eco-entrepreneurs. Families are invited to reach out and be part of this international wave of consciousness in favor of the environment.
