Olympic Week star for Pozzallo crossing
20-year-old Kamil Manowiecki, one of the five participants who next Friday 6th May will take part in the Enemed Malta-Sicily Windsurf Crossing – 40th Anniversary Commemorative Edition (1982-2022), gave an exceptional performance at the 53rd Semaine Olympique Française (French Olympic Week) held in Hyères between the 23-30 March.
Manowiecki of Polish nationality classified 5th in the IQFOiL (new Olympic windsurfing) Class for men which was made up of 56 entries.
At the Hyères Olympic Week there were 751 sailors from over 50 countries where all the 10 classes that will be contested in Marseille for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were represented.
Nicolas Goyard, France's World and European champion, won the French Olympic Week IQFOiL Class for men, with Clément Bourgeois (France) 2nd, Sebastian Koerdel (Germany) 3rd, and Maciej Rutkowski (Poland) 4th. French and Polish windsurfers dominated the top 10 places – France 5 places, Poland 3, with Germany and New Zealand 1 place each.
Kamil Manowiecki is based in Malta for most of the year where he is a University student and takes advantage of the Island’s lenient weather conditions to conduct his windsurfing training.
Besides Kamil Manowiecki, who is symbolically representing the foreign windsurfers who over the years participated in the ‘Pozzallo Race’, the other four participants on the Enemed Malta-Sicily Windsurf Crossing - 40th Anniversary Commemorative Edition (1982-2022), are a mix of Maltese ‘veterans’ and ‘new comers’ windsurfers. These are Paul Ellul (59 yrs), Karl Miggiani (24), Tom Zammit Tabona (28) and Shaun Miggiani (21). All participating windsurfers are members of the Malta Young Sailors Club.
The Enemed Malta-Sicily Windsurf Crossing – 40th Anniversary Commemorative Edition (19822022), promoted and organised by Wishbone Windsurfing Promotions with the cooperation of the Malta Young Sailors Club, is being held with the collaboration of the Comune di Pozzallo (City Council of Pozzallo) Sicily, having Enemed as the "Official Fuels Partner” as well as the main sponsors.

The Lega Navale Italiana – Sezione di Pozzallo is extending its support on the Pozzallo end of the event.
