Valletta St Pauls climb first in the table

Valletta St Pauls climbed on top of the Mochika MAFA First Division table after seeing off Mqabba Al‐ bions 3‐1.

The Citizens took control of most of the game with Mqabba trying to operate on the counter.

Santiago Rudolf surged the Citi‐ zens ahead on 15 minutes with Andre Farrugia scoring a beauty of a goal from long distance.

In the second half, the plan of the match rarely changed as Valletta scored their third goal courtesy of Santiago Rudolf who took advan‐ tage of a defensive blunder.

Mqabba reduced the score on 60 minutes as they were awarded a penalty scored by Jerome Az‐ zopardi.

In a highly electrifyi­ng en‐ counter, Senglea Gunners handed Marsa St Michael their first defeat of the season as they won 4‐3.

Senglea establishe­d a 2‐0 advan‐ tage in the first 25 minutes through Lamin Moudou and Seedy Fofana with Samuel Dick‐ son reducing the score for Marsa.

In the second half, Marsa man‐ aged to turn the tableswith Uchechi Chiedozie and an own goal by Etienne Farrugia.

But Jaiteh Lamin came to the fore as he scored a quickfire brace to give the Gunners the most im‐ portant win.

Referee: Darko Stankovic. Tal‐Qroqq Versity Kamelasa stunned San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy as they won 2‐0 to leapfrog them in the standings.

The match came to light in the second half as Tal‐Qroqq scored the two important goals that gave them the victory first through Peter Khiev on 41 minutes and then thanks to Janik Ahlgrimm six minutes afterwards.

San Ġiljan maintained their good form of late as they saw off Żebbuġ Youngsters 2‐0.

Ethan Goodman put the Saints ahead on 26 minutes with Cedric Cassari scoring four minutes from the start of the second half. Referee: Lorry Sammut.

Attard Edex Kings are the new leaders of the MAFA Third Divi‐ sion after seeing off Fgura Spar‐ tans 2‐0.

It wasn't an easy task for the At‐ tard side with Fgura defending boldly and absorbing their oppo‐ nents continuous attacks.

After a goalless first half, Attard managed to surge ahead on 43 minutes through Jose Obelis Cueri.

Fgura tried hard to get into the game but instead Edex Kings managed to rubberstam­p their victory and it was Enzo Villavi‐ cenzo who doubled the score and ensured the most important three points.

Għaxaq Wolves were held to a goalless draw against Gżira United Sports Club.

Despite the Wolves effort to get the three points to ensure to re‐ main on top, Gżira defended well and were operating on the counter attack.

This draw puts Għaxaq Wolves in second position, one point be‐ hind the new leaders Attard Edex Kings.

On their part, Gżira obtained their fifth draw of the season which keeps them in fourth posi‐ tion with eight points.
