- STANDINGS – MAFA SECOND DIVISION STANDINGS – MAFA THIRD DIVISION

Valletta Stars St Dominic en‐ tered again for the promotion hunt when they defeated Naxxar Victorians 5‐0. At the same time, Balluta Barracudas, who were very close to clinch an immedi‐ ate promotion, lost their game against Żabbar Southsiders . Therefore the last match day will prove to be decisive for the second team to be promoted to the top flight.

Valletta Stars dominated their match against Naxxar Victorians as they obtained a massive 5‐0 scoreline. With this result, Naxxar are mathematically rele‐ gated to the third division league.

The Stars had Albanian striker Klajdi Qose on song after scoring two goals, one of them from a beautiful free kick while Damang Marena, Mohammed Abdoukadir and Deisler Conti Azzopardi added the score for their team.

Referee: Jean Pierre Mifsud.

The Citizens are now only one point behind Balluta Barracudas who failed to win their game against Zabbar Southsiders.

The latter won 3‐1 and thus they still have hope to save their place in the second division.

Balluta Barracudas opened the score on 26 minutes through An‐ drew Tortell.

In the second half, the South‐ siders turned defeat into victory and scored three times through a double by Clayton Mifsud and another goal by Shylon Mangion.

Referee: Alex Grech.

Swieqi Braves, who are already certain that they will win the championship and even the pro‐ motion, had to sweat hard to beat Ta' Giorni Wanderers 2‐1.

It was a very nice game, with Ta' Giorni who for most of the time controlled their opponents so much that they also took the lead with Swieqi who thanks to the timely substitutions made sure to win this match.

After a goalless first half, Ta' Giorni came out well and went ahead on 41 minutes from an own goal by Anthony Picaud.

Swieqi's reaction was swift as eight minutes later they equal‐ ized through Jean Casa who met Pedro's cross from the right and with a grounder beat Daniel Ellul.

The Wanderers seemed con‐ fused as they conceded the sec‐ ond goal in the 59th minute as Lenny Boscolo fired a shot that ended up in the net.

Despite the Wanderers' at‐ tempts until the end, the score remained unchanged so Swieqi could celebrate their 11th sea‐ sonal win.

Referee: Jonathan Balzan.

Birkirkara St Joseph edged Gudja Wanderers 1‐0 to go on the 18‐point mark.

After a very defensive first half,

Birkirkara scored the winning goal in the 45th minute through Stefan Barbara.

Referee: Lorry Sammut.

From the MAFA Third Division, the already promoted team At‐ tard Edex Kings found little dif‐ ficulty to beat Hamrun Amateurs 3‐0.

Before the interval, the score was 1‐0 with Braham Garcia putting them in the lead.

In the second half, the game plan hardly changed with the team from Attard who scored two more goals through Miguel Acevedo and another goal by Deison Cuero exactly one minute from the end of the match.

Now the last clash between At‐ tard Edex Kings and Għaxaq Wolves will decide who will end up champion of this division.
