Qormi Daikin promoted to Euro Hockey Challenge 2

Qormi Daikin obtained a good 5-1 win against HC Kilppari of Finland in their fourth game from the Euro Hockey Challenge 3.

This was Qormi's second win after the 7-2 defeat against Eagles HC, the 4-1 victory against Valhalla and the 5-5 draw against Akademik Club Sofia.

Qriema scored their goals through a double by Zack Degiovanni with Luke Bajada, Steve Tanti and Keith Bajada among the scorers.

David Hurrell scored the only goal for Kilppari.

Thus Qormi obtained promotion to the second category of the Euro Hockey Challenge.

On the other hand, GREE Sliema Hotsticks had a 1-1 draw against SLF Mesaikos of Sweden.

Markel Tolarechip­i surged Mesaikos ahead with Silas Plaehn equalizing for the Blues who are still unbeaten in this competitio­n after victories of 9-1 against Vantaa and 1-0 against HC Luxembourg.

Earlier, GREE Sliema Hotsticks and Qormi Daikin obtained some positive results in the Euro Hockey Challenge to advance to the finals with the aim of being promoted to a higher division.

GREE Sliema Hotsticks obtained their second consecutiv­e win in the second division after beating HC Luxembourg 1-0. It was a very balanced game with both sides concentrat­ed in defence.

Luxembourg were coming from a 2-2 draw against Mesaikos with Sliema completely dominating the match against Vantaa so much so that they won 9-1.

Sliema scored the very important goal in the second quarter through Karl Borg.

The Blues play their third match today against SLF Mesaikos. They are already guaranteed of winning the group while they will be playing in one of the main finals with the chance to be promoted to the first division.

Even reigning champions Qormi Daikin are in with a chance of gaining promotion, despite being held to a 5-5 draw by Bulgaria's FHK Akademik Sofia.

Qormi scored their goals through a Zachary Degiovanni hat-trick with Keith Bajada and Juan Sarcia also among the scorers.

The Bulgarians found the back of the net with a hat-trick from Georgi Baklev, Ventislav Balev and Radostin Pavlov.

This was the Yellow/Blacks' second commitment after losing 7-2 against the host team of HC Eagles in the first match.
