-

With an expenditure of €190,000 from funds by the LESA Agency, the Norwegian Fund, and the Tarxien Local Council, along with work carried out by the Department of Public Works, embellishment and maintenance works were completed in Joanne Gardens in Tarxien.

This garden, a popular open space in the area, underwent maintenance, including changes to the lighting system, refurbishment of the gazebo, refurbishment of walls, installation of outside furniture, and attention to the plants and trees within the garden. This work was inaugurated by Minister for the Interior, National Security, and Employment Byron Camilleri and Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works Chris Bonett, together with the mayor of the locality, Joseph Abela Galea, and the councillors.

In a brief speech, Camilleri said that over the past three years, €3.25 million has been allocated for various projects in localities across Malta and Gozo, funded by the LESA Agency, which invests in projects that benefit the community.

“Through this work, the residents of Ħal Tarxien now have a more beautiful open space in the heart of their urbanized locality, which serves as a green lung for many residents living nearby. We are committed to continuing to invest in similar projects that enhance the quality of community life,” he said.

On his part, Bonett said that the “project demonstrates how coordination and collaboration between various entities benefit places like Joanne Gardens, which are dear to the Tarxien community. I am pleased that this garden, which offers a leisure space for everyone who visits, is now in a much better and safer state after the regeneration, maintenance, and beautification works”.

Also present at the inauguration of the works was the Chief Executive Officer of the LESA Agency, Svetlick Flores.
