Europe is at a crossroads – Robert Abela

-

On Monday, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that Europe is at a crossroads. He said that in the upcoming European elections, people will either opt for a Europe of Peace, which is promoted by PL candidates, or one that does not have the people’s interests at heart.

Commenting on PL candidates for both the EU elections and local councils, the Prime Minister noted the diverse talents, many of whom, he said, emerged from town hall meetings held by the party throughout the year.

Abela also discussed recent government department visits, including one to the cleaning department. He mentioned that it currently employs around 700 people who have been trained to utilise artificial intelligence technology in their work. Additionally, acknowledging the challenges faced by these workers, such as removing days-old carcasses from the roads, the PM said that the government has initiated the process to increase their wages.

He cited this as a clear example of how the wealth generated from the common good is reinvested back into society.

Referring to himself and PL candidates, Abela highlighted their commitment to negotiating terms for the common good of the Maltese when it comes to the European Parliament, contrasting this with others who prioritise personal career advancement.

He noted that the PN has already expressed a desire to cease incentives such as those stabilising fuel and electricity prices. Without singling out any specific party, he said that the choice in the elections is between a Europe focused on social issues and energy investment or one that invests in war weapons due to a lack of willingness to engage in serious discussions about peace.
