Leading award for digital social entrepreneurs: Ex-tended application deadline

-

The deadline for applying a digital project improving society for the European Youth Award has been extended. Young, creative and innovative persons may submit their project online till July 31.

Already for the fifth time the European Youth Award is conducted this year. The EYA is a unique pan-European contest designed to motivate young people, social entrepreneurs and start-ups to produce digital projects improving society. It demonstrates their potential to create innovative solutions with Internet and Mobile technology addressing the goals defined by the Council of Europe and Europe 2020.

In 2016 projects can be submitted in 8 solution-orientated categories, amongst them the new and up-to-date “Special Category migration | integration | inclusion | refugee movement“. Eligible participants are under the age of 33 and are living in one of the member states of the Council of Europe. They need to have produced an outstanding, innovative digital project improving society (eg website, app, wearable device, online campaign, digital installa- tion).

The evaluation is based on the following technical and strategical criteria: idea, design, innovation, initiative, interactivity, impact, and social value. The winners will benefit from the presentation of their projects on an international stage during the European Youth Award Festival (Nov 30-Dec 03) in Graz.

Besides that they will receive valuable feedback from different perspectives to leverage their project on the next level. They will be guided by mentors and be supported by a most lively and vibrant network. Knowledge and contacts – exactly the things that start-ups need to scale up.

„Already dozens of young people have applied for the European Youth Award 2016. We want to give even more people the chance to present their projects in front of the international Jury. So we have extended the closing date for applications till the end of July.“- Prof. Peter A. Bruck, initiator of the European Youth Award and Honorary President of ICNM.
