Global positions in aviation for a Maltese
Dr Clive Aquilina Spagnol has been appointed Senior Manager International Relations for the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority, after participating successfully in a worldwide, monthslong, recruitment competition for the position. It is the most senior position within the Authority ever occupied by a Maltese.
He joins the UK CAA following another prestigious position in the Middle East where he occupied the role of Senior Manager Aeropolitical & Regulatory Affairs with Qatar Airways, another first for a Maltese within the airline, and the most senior ever.
Previously he was engaged in the aviation industry in Libya and served as the first in house legal counsel with the Malta Civil Aviation Directorate.
Before venturing into the aviation industry, Dr Aquilina Spagnol worked in financial services. Between 2003-2009 he was the first Maltese legal counsel to serve at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, in the time of the Malta’s membership to the EU and the introduction of the euro.
Dr Clive Aquilina Spagnol holds qualifications in aviation from the United Kingdom and Dubai. He is also qualified in international relations, and in 2001 he graduated Doctor of Laws with a thesis about aircraft registration.
He is a member of the UK Royal Aeronautical Society and involved in numerous aviation fora and engagements worldwide.
