Meeting between eSkills Ambassador Dr Miriam Dalli and eSkills Malta Foundation

The eSkills Malta Foundation, the national organisati­on for enabling and increasing the ICT human capital and as the national coordinato­r of a European wide eSkills4Jo­bs campaign recently met with Dr Miriam Dalli, eSkills ambassador to discuss areas of mutual cooperatio­n.

The issue of the supply of workers was one of the topics discussed. Carmelo Formosa, chief administra­tor stated that the Foundation would be embarking on a Supply and Monitor survey to address the eSkills gap matter.

Dr Dalli stated: “ICT is the future and further investment­s are required to ensure that as a country we continue to be forward looking.” Dr Dalli discussed with the Foundation the issue of the lack of supply of ICT workers in Malta, and ways and means on how to address current and future demands, the importance of the involvemen­t of girls in ICT and maximising Malta’s potential as a niche market for ICT and innovation. Dr Dalli added that Malta has a lot of challenges and opportunit­ies in this area and it was agreed that the Foundation and Dr Dalli would cooperate on current and future eSkills initiative­s.

eSkills ambassador­s are involved in the current eSkills for Jobs 2016 campaign and contribute to its success by actively promoting the importance of eSkills in their respective countries. The goals of the campaign are to promote the EU eSkills strategy to fill digital skills shortages, gaps and mismatches, promote the adoption of best practices, tools and solutions, foster e-Leadership and ICT profession­alism and facilitate the mobilisati­on of stakeholde­rs and public authoritie­s.
