Global Finance recognised Bank of Valletta as the Best Trade Finance Provider in Malta for 2017. This marks the fifth consecutive year that this accolade has been bestowed on Bank of Valletta.

Carmel Borg, head Trade Finance at Bank of Valletta welcomed the award with satisfaction, saying: “At Bank of Valletta, the customer is at the heart of our strategy, across all areas of operation, including Trade Finance. Having an in-depth insight into market conditions is critical to be able to help our clients navigate these markets and manage the risks effectively.”

He attributed the award to the dedication and expertise of the team members by saying: “The key strength of BOV Trade Finance is the years of experience that translate into sound advice and dedica- tion in guiding clients throughout the process. Our people put time and effort to ensure that our clients understand every step of the transaction undertaken.”

Looking ahead, Mr Borg said: “This award recognises our commitment to be an enabler and long-term partner to corporate clients as well as to entrepreneurs. International trade has always been a fine balance of opportunity and risk, particularly when trading across borders. Our approach reflects our vision – to remain forward-looking and continuously reinvent ourselves. It is only in this manner that we can truly be the financial partner of choice for our customers.”

In a statement, Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance, highlighted the key elements that are shaping the landscape of global trade including the rise of antiglobalist political movements and the election of populists who express anti-trade sentiments. “It is a lively time for both trade finance providers and the corporations that use their services. Our awards help identify the players that are smart and nimble enough to successfully navigate through any changes in the global trade climate.”
