GRTU Malta Chamber for SMEs welcomes the affiliation of the Childcare Centres Providers Association as members
GRTU has announced that the Childcare Centres Providers Association has now become a full member of the GRTU. The child care sector is a brand new sector within GRTU’s portfolio of representation and will complement its other 96 sectors that it represents.
Government’s free childcare scheme remains a very important measure that supports our society and is an enabler to parents, especially females, to re-enter the labour market. The scheme was indeed very successful and among the stakeholders that have con- tributed to such a success are the childcare service providers.
Childcare centres today not only carry out a very important economic function, but also serve the country with an even bigger mission, that of caring for our children. These centres have a lot of responsibility and due to the standard that they have maintained, have been direct contributors to the success of this scheme. These centre make parents feel comfortable to leave their children under the tender age of three years in their care on a daily basis.
Childcare centres have risen to the occasion and in a few years created the service necessary to meet the demands of our society. Today childcare centres employ a total of 600 qualified workers and care for close to 3,500 children each year.
GRTU will work with the CCPA to continue to improve the overall standard of all the centres in Malta and will provide the association with the support it needs and represent it in its discussion with government.
