BOV Cards with a social purpose Puttinu Cares and Service Dogs (Malta) Foundation are the beneficiaries

-

Bank of Valletta launched Together for Charity, a promotional campaign that will run throughout May 2017. The bank will be making a monetary donation towards two local NGOs, Puttinu Cares and Service Dogs (Malta) Foundation for every transaction effected with any BOV debit or credit card during this month.

Speaking about the initiative, Ivo Camilleri, Executive Head Electronic Banking explained, “More and more people are choosing cards as their preferred method of payment, both for retail as well as for online shopping. This campaign has a dual purpose,” he said. “First, it encourages people to use their cards for a wider spectrum of transactions, and in so doing, gives them greater opportunity to see how convenient and secure they are to use. In addition, through this campaign, we are supporting two NGOs who do invaluable work within our society.”

The cardholder does not incur any expenses or charges. For every transaction effected with a BOV card, whether retail or online, the Bank makes a nominal contribution on behalf of the cardholder.

“The more people use their BOV cards to pay for their purchases during the month of May, the more funds we shall be raising towards Puttinu Cares and Service Dogs (Malta) Foundation,” concluded Mr Camilleri.

The beneficiaries linked to this promotion are Puttinu Cares and Service Dogs (Malta) Foundation. Puttinu Cares is a NGO that needs no introduction. It works incessantly with young cancer patients and their families, particularly in providing them with accommodation when they travel abroad in relation to diagnosis and receipt of specialised medical treatment.

Service Dogs (Malta) Foundation, on the other hand, was set up in 2013. As Joseph Stafrace, Operations Managers of the Foundation says, “Our aim is that no person who could potentially benefit from a service dog is left without one.” In fact, the Foundation trains service dogs for hearingimpaired, persons on the autistic spectrum, as well as individuals who need alerting for conditions such as seizures and diabetes, among others. Further information regarding this initiative may be obtained from the bank’s website www.bov.com or by contacting the bank’s Customer Service Centre on 2131 2020.
